DungeonRig is a product of Red Autumn Software AS, a company registered in Norway.
Registering an email requires that you are at least 13 years old, or the higher minimum digital-consent age that applies in your country. Registering does not commit you to any purchase.
Making a purchase additionally requires the legal capacity to enter a contract — generally 18, or with a parent or guardian's authorisation where local law requires it.
1. Introduction
These Terms of Service govern your use of the DungeonRig application and website, provided by Red Autumn Software AS. By downloading, accessing, or using DungeonRig, you agree to these Terms.
2. Seller and Payment Processing
Red Autumn Software AS is the seller of DungeonRig. Stripe processes card and supported wallet payments on our behalf; Stripe is not the seller. The price, tax treatment, licence scope, and checkout terms are shown before payment.
2.1 Purchase Consent and Digital Delivery
Before payment, you confirm on our purchase page, by ticking a box, that you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy and that you ask us to give you access to DungeonRig immediately.
Because DungeonRig is delivered digitally and immediately, you acknowledge that your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal ends once delivery begins. This does not affect your rights if the product is faulty, not as described, or if you are charged in error — and it does not affect our own voluntary 14-day refund promise. See our Refund Policy.
We send your licence key and receipt to the email address used at checkout. Download DungeonRig and enter the licence key to activate it. No login is required.
3. Software Licensing and Restrictions
When you purchase DungeonRig (US$19.99 is the total price. No additional tax is added at checkout., one-time), you receive a Founder licence to use the locally installed core software under these terms on up to three computers. This is a software licence, not ownership of the software, source code, or underlying intellectual property. Red Autumn Software AS may suspend or revoke a licence for fraud, a reversed payment, key sharing, or a material breach of these terms, subject to mandatory consumer rights.
- You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the DungeonRig engine.
- You may not distribute, sub-license, or share your license key with unauthorized users.
- You may create, share, and sell content (modules, maps) for DungeonRig using the tools provided within the user ecosystem, provided you have the rights to the IP within those modules.
- You may not strip, alter, or circumvent the per-purchase content tag described below in order to redistribute paid pack art outside the licence that downloaded it.
Content tagging of paid packs. Paid pack assets may contain a hidden identifier linked to the licence used to download them. Unauthorised sharing or redistribution may result in suspension or revocation of that licence. We review the available evidence before taking action and do not suspend or revoke a licence solely because a tag was detected. The tag is processed locally on your device and is used only to protect our own content — it is never applied to your own maps, art, or homebrew images, and it is not used to scan, profile, or track your content.
4. Transparent Scope of the Founder Licence
Map and token access clarification — 18 September 2026: All current and future DungeonRig tokens are free for everyone, including unregistered users. Free users receive access to the starter map pack. Registered users receive all current and future non-exclusive maps; exclusive map packs may be sold separately to registered users. Founders receive all current and future DungeonRig tokens and maps forever, including exclusive map packs. This clarification preserves the wider library-content rights below. Adventures remain a separate category, with specifically Founder-included adventures included.
The Founder licence is a one-time purchase with no subscription required to run the locally installed core app. It includes all current and future DungeonRig library content published by Red Autumn Software AS, including maps, tokens, portraits, music, sound effects, backdrops, and similar reusable assets. Adventures are a separate product category: selected adventures expressly marked as Founder-included are included, but the licence does not include every adventure released or sold separately. Optional non-library modules and server-dependent services are outside that promise unless the offer expressly includes them.
These are the current boundaries of the licence:
- Core app, library content, and adventures: The licence covers the locally installed core app and all current and future DungeonRig library content published by Red Autumn Software AS. It also includes selected adventures expressly marked as Founder-included. Other adventures, optional non-library modules, and premium services may be offered separately for an additional price.
- Local software and online services: Local mapping, campaign preparation, and table play run in the installed app. Remote Play and other hosted features depend on third-party infrastructure and may be changed, limited, suspended, or discontinued with reasonable notice where practicable. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
- Remote Play is sponsored by us: Remote Play is included at no extra cost today, and Red Autumn Software AS pays the bandwidth, storage and server costs of running it. It is available to any account, including a free registered one — it is not a paid upgrade and it is not restricted to Founder licence holders. We intend to keep it that way, and we will never start charging you for an allowance your licence already includes. But hosting is a real monthly cost that we do not control. If infrastructure prices rise, if usage grows beyond what we can carry, or if the service can no longer be sustained on its current basis, we may have to change what is included — for example by charging for use beyond the included allowance, by offering optional paid add-ons (such as guaranteed connectivity through restrictive university, hotel or corporate firewalls), or by reducing or ending the sponsored service. If that happens we will tell you by email before it takes effect, and you may end the agreement as described in Section 10. Your DungeonRig licence, your local play, and your own campaign files are never affected and never carry a charge.
Why this is here: we would rather tell you the truth now than surprise you later. Remote Play runs on cloud infrastructure that costs us money every month, and we do not set those prices. Saying this before you buy means a future change is part of the deal you agreed to, not something done to you afterwards — and it lets us keep Remote Play free for as long as we possibly can, instead of pricing it defensively from day one. - Remote Play — what's included: Remote Play is included and we cover the cost of running it for you. The allowance is deliberately generous and comfortably covers regular weekly play for a normal group; if you ever start getting close, DungeonRig warns you in the app well before anything changes. Playing locally or at the table never counts toward it, and neither do your own campaign files. For completeness, the current included allowance is 5 GB per account each calendar month; beyond that we may pause further Remote Play transfers until it resets, or offer an optional add-on. We would always rather warn you than surprise you mid-session.
Why this is here: Most groups will use very little relay traffic, but a few very large video/audio sessions can cost real money. A visible allowance lets us keep ordinary Remote Play included while preventing one license from consuming unlimited cloud bandwidth. - Business changes: A merger, acquisition, or transfer of the product does not itself erase rights already granted under this agreement. Any successor remains subject to applicable law and the obligations that transfer with the business.
5. Acceptable Use
DungeonRig is a tool for tabletop roleplaying games. We expect users to act lawfully and respect other players. By using DungeonRig — including the optional Remote Play feature, which lets you upload images and host sessions for others — you agree NOT to:
- Upload, share, or transmit content that is illegal in any applicable jurisdiction, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), terrorist content, or content depicting non-consensual acts
- Upload content that infringes the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of any third party (see Section 6 for our notice-and-takedown process)
- Use Remote Play to harass, threaten, dox, or target other users with hate speech or sustained abuse
- Attempt to disrupt, overwhelm, or compromise the service infrastructure (DDoS, exploits, attempts to bypass rate limits or authentication)
- Use the application or its features for unsolicited commercial advertising or spam
- Reverse-engineer the engine, redistribute your license, or sub-license the software (see Section 3)
- Use DungeonRig to violate any law applicable to you, including export-control restrictions or sanctions regimes
We reserve the right to remove or restrict access to content that violates these rules, suspend or terminate accounts of users who violate them, and refer matters to law enforcement when required or appropriate. Account termination for cause does not entitle you to a refund (see our Refund Policy).
Reporting violations: If you encounter content or behaviour that violates these rules, please email contact@red-autumn.com with the subject "Abuse Report" and include enough detail for us to locate and assess the content (room code, file URL, screenshots, time of incident).
6. Notice-and-Action: Copyright and Other Illegal Content
If you believe content uploaded via DungeonRig infringes your copyright or is otherwise illegal, you may submit a notice. We comply with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), which establish parallel notice-and-action frameworks.
6.1 DMCA Designated Agent (U.S. Copyright Notices)
For DMCA takedown notices, our designated agent is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office under registration number DMCA-1072189:
DMCA Agent
Red Autumn Software AS
Havoddveien 8
4823 Nedenes, Norway
Email: contact@red-autumn.com (subject: "DMCA Notice")
6.2 What a Valid DMCA Notice Must Include
Your notice must contain:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or someone authorised to act on their behalf
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed
- Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail (URL, room code, time of upload) to allow us to locate it
- Your contact information: name, address, phone number, email
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, agent, or law
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner
Misrepresenting infringement may expose you to liability for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
6.3 Reporting Other Illegal Content (DSA Notice-and-Action)
For non-copyright illegal content (CSAM, hate speech, terrorist content, etc.), submit a notice to contact@red-autumn.com with the subject "Illegal Content Report." Include the same level of detail: identification of the content, where it is located, and an explanation of why it is illegal.
We will acknowledge receipt of your notice and act on it diligently, expeditiously, and in a non-arbitrary manner, as required by EU Digital Services Act Article 16.
6.4 Statement of Reasons
If we remove, restrict, or otherwise act on content following a notice, we will provide the affected user with a statement of reasons for the decision (the legal or contractual basis, the facts considered, and information on the available remedies), as required by DSA Article 17.
6.5 Counter-Notification
If your content was removed in response to a DMCA notice and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice to the DMCA Agent (subject: "DMCA Counter-Notice") containing:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the removed material and its prior location
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification
- Your name, address, and phone number
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of a U.S. federal court (or, if outside the U.S., a court in the district where the service provider is located) and that you will accept service of process from the original complainant
If we receive a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original complainant. If they do not file a court action within 10–14 business days, we may restore the removed material.
6.6 Repeat-Infringer Policy
We maintain a policy of terminating accounts that, in appropriate circumstances, are determined to be repeat infringers of intellectual property rights. We assess "repeat" on a case-by-case basis with reference to the number, severity, and validity of notices received. Accounts terminated under this policy are not entitled to a refund.
6.7 Notification of Authorities
Where we become aware of confirmed CSAM or other content evidencing serious imminent threats to life or safety, we will notify the appropriate authorities — including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) under U.S. law, KRIPOS Tipsmottak under Norwegian law, and Europol or national law enforcement where applicable — as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, the EU Digital Services Act Article 18, and equivalent obligations.
7. What We Promise About the Software
We provide DungeonRig with reasonable skill and care, and will make reasonable efforts to keep it working as described.
Your mandatory rights come first. As a consumer you have rights under the Norwegian Digital Services Act (digitalytelsesloven) and applicable consumer law — including that the software conform to what we described and be fit for its ordinary purpose. Nothing in these Terms limits or removes those rights. If DungeonRig has a defect or does not conform, you are entitled to have it corrected, or to a price reduction or refund, as the law provides.
Beyond those mandatory rights, we do not promise that DungeonRig will be free of every bug, that every feature will suit every setup, or that optional online services such as Remote Play will always be available. Where an online service is unavailable, your installed software and your local campaign files keep working.
Some features rely on third-party AI providers using your own API keys, and on the availability of online services. We are not responsible for the output, availability, pricing, or terms of third-party services you choose to connect.
8. Our Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for gross negligence or intent. Your mandatory consumer rights under Norwegian law are unaffected.
If DungeonRig has a defect or is delivered late, your rights and any compensation are those the Norwegian Digital Services Act (digitalytelsesloven) gives you. That law already sets what counts: loss that was a reasonably foreseeable consequence of the problem. It does not cover loss in your own business, and it does not cover loss caused by third-party services you chose to connect.
We are not responsible for the output, availability, pricing, or terms of third-party services you connect to DungeonRig — including AI providers you use with your own API keys.
If you are not a consumer, our total liability to you for anything connected with DungeonRig is limited to what you paid us for your licence, and we are not liable for indirect loss, lost profits, or lost data.
Please keep your own backups of your campaigns and content. DungeonRig deliberately stores your work as ordinary files on your computer so that you can.
9. Ending Your Use
You may stop using DungeonRig at any time and uninstall it. Uninstalling does not delete your campaign files, which remain on your computer.
You may close your DungeonRig account at any time. Closing your account does not cancel your Founder licence — your installed software and licence key continue to work. See the Privacy Policy for what account closure deletes and what we must keep for accounting purposes.
We may suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these Terms — for example by sharing or reselling paid content, attempting to defeat licensing, or unlawful use. Where practical we will warn you first. Suspension for cause does not by itself entitle you to a refund, but does not remove your mandatory rights in respect of a genuine defect.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms — for example to reflect new features, legal changes, or new online services. The current version and its date are always shown at the top of this page.
Changes are not retroactive: the Terms you accepted at the time of purchase govern that purchase. For material changes affecting ongoing online services, we will give reasonable notice in the app or by email where we have your address. Continuing to use the online services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms for those services; if you do not accept them, you may stop using the online services while continuing to use your offline licence.
Online services. We may change how our online services work — to add features, replace a supplier, or meet a legal requirement. Any such change is free to you and we will explain it clearly. Your DungeonRig licence and your local campaign files are not affected and keep working. If a change makes an online service meaningfully worse for you, we will tell you by email before it takes effect, and you may end the agreement within 30 days of our notice or of the change, whichever is later.
11. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by Norwegian law.
If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of the country where you live.
If you are a consumer, you may bring a case either in the Norwegian courts or in the courts where you live. We will only bring a case against you in the courts where you live.
If you are not a consumer — for example a company or an organisation — these Terms are governed by Norwegian law and Agder tingrett is the agreed venue.
Out-of-court resolution. If you have a complaint, please contact us first at contact@red-autumn.com. If we cannot resolve it, Norwegian consumers may contact the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) and, where applicable, the Consumer Disputes Committee (Forbrukerklageutvalget).
12. General
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Refund Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about DungeonRig. This does not affect what we have publicly said or shown about what DungeonRig does.
Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it.
You may not transfer your licence except as expressly permitted. We may transfer our rights and obligations, for example in a sale of the business; this will not reduce your rights, and your offline licence continues regardless.
